🎷 Strike up the Band! 🎺
Today was the first combined rehearsal for the JAM Band ahead of the 2026 Cheese Days Parade. The JAM Band is made up of high school band students from Juda, Albany, and Monticello.
In our rehearsal today, we focused on preparing our music (Juda and Albany's School Song "Notre Dame Victory March" and Monticello's School Song "Illinois Loyalty"), learning visuals and our parade block formation, and marching while playing our instruments.
Thank you to Mr. Karolek and Albany Schools for hosting us today!
Huge thanks to Hellenbrand Septic Service LLC for a $500 donation to support mental health resources at Monticello. Their campaign has raised nearly $7,000 for mental health programs over the last three years. 👏

After listening to "Extra Yarn" by Mac Barnett, our 2nd graders tried "finger knitting." 🧶
Today, Mr. Soderberg’s middle school science students took part in a demonstration using coffee beans and boiling water while reflecting on how the environment around us can influence us—and how we can positively influence the environment around us.
Students observed what happened to the coffee beans as they were exposed to the same conditions and connected observations to their lives.
