📖It's World Book Day today so we asked Ms. Daniels, our ELL teacher and elementary library aide, to share a few of her elementary faves.
🐂Book 1: Clovis Keeps His Cool is about a burly bull and former linebacker who has a "temper as big as he was", but since he started running his grandmother Grace's China Shop, he feels calmer.
🍅Book 2: What Grew in Larry's Garden, inspired by a real person, is about a teacher who teaches his students how to grow tomatoes. They then give the tomatoes away to their neighbors with personal notes. "It's amazing how things can grow when you tend your garden with kindness."
⭐Book 3: Cuando Brillan Los Estrellas/Where the Stars are Scattered is a beautiful story about two Somalian refugee brothers who have not given up hope on finding their mother or being reassigned to America. It's an intimate, important, unforgettable look at the day-to-day life of a refugee, Omar Mohamed, the Somali man who lived the story.
🤖Book 4: The Wild Robot follows the story of Roz, a robot who unexpectedly finds herself stranded on a remote island. As Roz slowly befriends the animals, the island starts to feel like home--until, one day, the robot's mysterious past comes back to haunt her.

📢I am pleased to announce that, pending board approval, Christopher Pickett has been selected as the new Pre-K through 12 Principal, effective July 1, 2025.
😀Christopher is a familiar face in our district, having spent the last three years teaching mathematics and coaching JV boys basketball. During his time with us, he has demonstrated a deep commitment to student learning and school community support.
💙Chris brings a variety of valuable educational experiences, as well as perspectives from outside the school setting. We look forward to welcoming him in his new role and supporting his growth as the next leader of Monticello School District.

😁🪥Bridging Brighter Smiles will be visiting school again soon. Students can still be enrolled for this visit.

Today the HS Accounting class competed in the UW-Madison Accounting Case Competition at the Fluno Center at the UW. These students spent the last few weeks investigating a forensic accounting case and preparing a presentation examining the issues and outlining recommendations. They presented to a panel of judges this morning before hearing from professionals (including an accountant from the Brewers) and college students about careers in accounting. It was a great opportunity and learning experience. #PonyProud

🎉Congratulations to these students for displaying true PBIS GRIT this past month.
